C.H.A.O.S. Gallery
On June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 2022, Beau co-hosted an interactive art exhibit, C.H.A.O.S. Gallery. The exhibit was held at Guilford Hall Brewery and received funding from the Maryland State Art Council to provide a community-uniting event in Baltimore, Maryland. Beau collaborated with a local artist, Emily Tulsky, and an Austrian augmented reality tech company that utilizes artificial intelligence, ‘Artivive.’ The purpose of C.H.A.O.S. Gallery is to start meaningful conversations about mental health after being Confused, Homebound, Anxious, Overwhelmed, and Separated during the pandemic. The in-person gallery mixes traditional art with digital animation to create an immersive experience.
CHAOS Gallery Sign [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Print]: Beau designed this advertisement to be colorful and to evoke feelings of colorful chaos while preserving a clean layout and design elements. The advertisement was created to teach visitors how to download and view immersive art via a smart device at Guilford Hall Brewery.
ECHOES [Artist: Beau | Medium: Unreal Engine 5 Animation + Print]: During the pandemic, we lost a friend, not to a virus but to an even worse trend. Timelines of others’ thoughts and desires manipulate our feelings and keep us stuck in a loop, like an echo. Fading a bit each time. When that loop breaks, where are you really? Who are you really? (June 2022)
DISCONNECT [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Print]: Working from home was convenient for many. Like a double-edged sword, remote work has been comfortable for the individual but it has created a disconnect for communities. Not having to physically interact with others has given many people comfort but in this excessive comfort, we lost the ability to comfort others. At this moment, human interaction is scattered and without a connection to others, it’s hard to gain perspective on one’s place in the world. (June 2022)
QUEASY [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Acrylic Painting]: There is a huge connection between gut health and mental health as moods and thoughts affect our digestive system. Our stomach is often referred to as our second brain. The stress, anxiety, and anger we experience from digesting the chaotic world around us are felt in our stomachs. What has your gut been telling you lately? (June 2022)
STICKY NOTES [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Acrylic Painting]: Overwhelmed with our to-do’s, it is such a balanced game of juggling tasks, recharging, and work. It is hard not to dream of better days while we were in lockdowns and stuck in our homes. (June 2022)
UNPACKING [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Print]: During the pandemic, many had to unpack, repack, and shelf future life plans. Whether packing was therapeutic or disruptive, we all had to do it in some capacity but hopefully, the great components of your life remain unmoved and you rediscovered what your roots are to keep you grounded. (June 2022)
UNDERWATER [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Acrylic Painting]: Each path is emblematic of the outcome of self-discovery. Some lay down and accept themselves as they come and others push their limits into a new realm of exploration. It is never easy but we grow the most by exploring our own boundaries as we might uncover depths we have not yet imagined. (June 2022)
UNSOCIAL [Artist: Beau | Medium: Digital Animation + Acrylic Painting]: Social media is everywhere. It is fueling businesses, creating trends, and impacting our culture. Ironically, we are less social because of it. Somehow “community” platforms have separated tribes and created an addiction to the scroll. It kidnaps people from the present and warps the world we live in as not real. Taking little bits of this drug is okay but too much is not healthy. (June 2022)
